Leave the last S off for SWINDLE

In January 2010 I bought a Stearns and Foster mattress (no boxspring) from Sealys for $1100.00 (a splurge for me!) and was in heaven. After years of lower back pain and chiropractic I was finally waking up without having felt I was sawed in half.

My friend from out of state visited, LOVED it, and went home and bought one for herself. Fast forward a year and a half: where my boyfriend and I sleep are without support, there's a small mountain up the middle, and I went through the hole thing of calling, having a tech come (who would tell me nothing) then getting a letter in the mail telling me the bed was not sagging enough (not in those words). Two weeks ago I actually drove myself to emergency with chest pressure, and after X-rays, CAT scans, stress test, blood tests...I was told my heart was fine, and the chest pressure could be something muscular stemming from my back...and it's all making sense to me now!!!

Sealys has not heard the last from me...I will be visiting the store where I bought the mattress, and I am positive I will not get any help, but I need to speak with a human being-not some pie in the sky letter from somewhere out there. Anybody have any suggestions where to go, besides this website???

Sealy is a company that I will never deal with again!

I purchased a king sized Sealy mattress 2 and a half years ago. It is sinking so badly that I have slept horribly for months. Upon calling them, they sent out a long questionnaire for me to painstakingly fill out. I had to stretch string from side to side and measure how low it was sunk, then send it to them. A independent technician then came to my home to measure again. He was nice and told me the mattress was really sinking badly. I then received a call that I could go to Ashley Furniture and buy a mattress (which were all more expensive) and they apply a credit to me. I was satisfied with that so I did. When the day reached that I was to receive my new mattress. I waited at home for 5 hours for the delivery. They arrived an hour late and told me that the mattress had a stain on it so they couldn't take it. They called Ashley and I was told that they couldn't honor the warranty. I argued that I was approved for warranty by the technician and they said that the stain must have taken place after the technician was there a week ago!! I called customer service at Ashley and they had me send pictures of the stain to them. They sent them to Sealy and I was told that I wouldn't hear from them today. The delivery guys had to leave. I asked them to carry the old mattress down for me because I could not sleep another night on it and they did. I am sitting here with NO MATTRESS on my bed!! Shouldn't a company stand behind terrible construction of their Product?? I am so angry!!

Stains void your warranty. It is on your warranty card. Sealy is still a *** product tho.

Sealy uses deceptive marketing and sells low quality products

Sealy represents their innersprings to be made from Titanium, a component 70X more expensive than steel. They factually misrepresent the spring to be titanium in sales literature when in reality it contains nearly ZERO titanium. "Titanium infused" as a company representative told me. They refuse to divulge how much titanium is used in the product. The company is notorious for trying to spin cost saving construction as a positive for the consumer when in reality they have continually cheapened their products over the years. One sided mattresses marketed as NEW technology when it simply is cheaper to pad only half the mattress. Styrofoam edges marketed as stronger, when Steel springs all the way to the edge is much stronger. Boxes covered in fabric instead of boxsprings and then they call it "triton" to make them sound sturdy. Phoney sales and cheap construction, stay away from Sealy and their shady business practices.

Sealy Mattress

I have purchased a king size bed for nearly £800 and it has really body dents after a year Sealy sent an inspector out who said it was normal. will never touch them again. Customer services dont want to know and we are left with a bed with a huge dent in the sleeping service. Very uncomfortable to sleep on. Their view is it is not a manufacturing defect so there is nothing they can do. BEWARE DONT BUY A SEALY BED IF YOU WANT SUPPORT BECAUSE YOU WILL GET A BIG DIP WHERE YOU LAY AND THEY WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

Mattress industry scam - No Durability

How many of you remember having a bed mattress for 10 or more years? It was not uncommon. Yes, eventually the mattresses finally broke down but it was after many, many years of service. Today, most mattresses utilize cheap foam top layers all in the name of comfort. Yes, they feel great in the store and promise sleep time bliss. But, the horrors will soon begin.

The more softness you crave, the higher the "pillow" top the more your world will come crumbling down. And soon.

My Sealy mattress ( mid-range cost, non-pillow top) was wonderful, for about 4 months. At that time it began to show the dreaded "body impressions" which I now learn are commomplace and a source of much complaint in mattress forums. Our body impressions are now about 1" deep, permanent and a cause of increasing back pain and discomfort. We haven't reached the magical 1.5" that manufacturers say represents a quaity problem. WTF? I say the 1" definitely represents a problem whether they want to admit it or not. My back tells me so.

There are technical solutions for this. Higher quality foams or even different foam materials such as natural latex which has a long history of durability. But manufactures are driven by costs or, certainly, the highest possible profit margins. Apparently, they aren't tuned-into the buzz and complaints because they continue to crank out products that clearly have an Achilles heel. The dreaded body impressions that feel and look bad due to breakdown of cheap closed cell foams.

So, I've had it. I'm moving on to a 100% natural latex foam mattress which, by many accounts, is far superior. I can truly expect years, even decades, of good performance. I'll do my homework and make sure I buy a high quality latex mattress ( beware of cheap versions or immitators). I'll pay more than the $1300 I paid for the Sealy but, you know what? I'll make it back in longevity, no back pain and better appearance compared to the saggy Sealy. Plus, I'll send a message ( ok, it's not much of a message) to the large mattress companies that they can take their junk and shove it. We want quality and durability, not marketing fluff and puff.

Company sold me a terrible mattress

on Jan 29th 2010 I bot a Sealy king sized mattress. It was horrible. Had a inspector come out to check it. Called your person at the company and after being quite familiar with each other decided the mattress was ok. The lump in the center from top to bottom is so high I can't roll over. I'm typing this at 4:30 in the morning because I cant sleep. I'm so agravated I can hardly control myself. This merchandise has probably been used before and you tried to refurbish it. Please accept this explanation. Can't think of 4 more words. Sincerely Leonard Albert 559 227 **** 4841 N Hulbert Fresno Ca. 93705

Sealy - NEVER BUY THEIR PRODUCTS!!!

The Sealy company should be ashamed of themselves. I spent 2500.00 on one of their high-end beds. It barely lasted 6 years. We called about the warranty. They replaced it. Within a year, the new bed was an absolute disaster. There is a hill in the middle and it slopes a good 3-4 inches to either side. My 90 year old mother can't sleep. We have been trying to get them to replace this piece of *** for 8 weeks and they deemed that the slope was less than 1 inch after their genius inspection. They intend to do nothing. I intend to do something and try my best to get justice and keep anyone and everyone from buying their products. To Robyn in the corporate office -- you should be ashamed... why bother having a warranty. My mom fell out of the bed this morning. Do you know how dangerous this is to sell products that are not only faulty -- but that could seriously injury the elderly? I intend to get satisfaction and get this out to the public. Enough. enough.

To Angry Sleepy's Customer:

My advice to you is to try and return the mattress for money back or even store credit. There is no way to fix the problems you describe, and we went thru 4 Sealy exchanges in 5 years, running the gamut from Stearns & Foster on the high end to the least expensive Posturepedic.

All total pieces of junk. If you can't get them to take it back, just throw it away and get your justice by telling others. Try to find a local mattress maker to patronize, one where the owners are your neighbors in the community.

Or, make your own out of plywood and polyeurethane foam. You'd be better off.

Guest

After 30 yrs of being satisfied Sealy customers, we bought a new king set in 2005. Within months it had failed.

4 new Sealy mattress exchanges in 5 yrs later, the local store went out of business and we were stuck with the last Sealy piece of #%&%. Wrote the company, but they just sent the standard "we'll send the mattress inspector" letter. Not doing that again. Put it out for the trash.

Now I tell everyone I know don't buy Sealy---not unless you want a ruined back, like mine is now. Wish I could send them my back pain, but I'll have to be satisfied with marketplace justice.

michelle Jef

well guys i am a employee who helps build these beds at sealy and we only do what we are told to get a pay check, the reason these beds are bad is because of the *** poor management in our factory's and the one's in the corp office giving the *** poor beds to put together! we know as longer term employees whats good and whats not and we have told them!!!!..but they treat us like *** anymore, in the last ten years we have had alot of bosses who little to nothing about nothing but i guess they produce something for corp.?? i guess thats why a few of us were checking around for people who are complaining about products..we know..i can only apologize on the behalf of the *** on's.....

This is absolutely true about the Sealy mattresses!!! I purchased a King size Sealy Postupedic in May of this year (2011)and one side is soft & the other firm! And that's not all! There is the "hill" in the middle like you described and as a result my head, neck & shoulders are way lower than my stomach. It is EXTREMELY uncomfortable! I wish you could advise what steps you took to have this rectified.

P.S I already dealt with Sleepys customer service, which I'm sure comes as no surprise was an absolute waste of time!!!

Please help!

Sealy is a bully in the wholesale market. Despite laws that make predatory pricing difficult Sealy manages successfully to deploy an arsenal of strategies to monopolize the mattress business. Sealy creates an expensive junk bed and fails to stand by their products.Sealy is buying up or crushing every small manufacturer they can ruin.

All Sealy's Latex Mattresses Poor Quality!!!

The Sealy's latex mattresses feels great in the beginning but then lower back pain kicks in and you start to wonder.

My 1y old Sealy's latex mattress lost all its support and Sealy's will not exchange because it is not sagging "enough". So beware!!! Almost all latex mattresses will not sag enough to qualify for Sealy's warranty. Their inspection is an unbelievable joke.

I called and visited many stores and ALL sales reps confirmed these issues and strongly advised me to stay away from any latex and foam mattress from Sealy's, Stearns & Foster and Bassett, which are all the same company!

Sealy's is ripping off customers with their cheap and overpriced foam and latex mattresses. If you check consumer reviews you will find many negative reviews about Sealy latex mattresses. They should be investigated for their shady business practices.

I now have lower back pain and am out of $2,000, plus medical expenses.

Right on comment. We bought the same exact thing at our Ashley's in Columbus.

Requests for them to investigate and emails to the company fell on deaf ears.

So we are stuck with a lemon in Smiths Station, AL. Worst large purchase of our life ugggggh.

Amen brother.

Stuck with a Sealy Trade Winds.

honestly people sounds like a broken record..complain complain complain.. could be sleeping on hay!

Guest

It took about 6 months to go from amazingly comfy to absolutely miserable. Unfortunately I think we'll be mattress shopping again soon.

It doesn't show any outward signs of sagging, so I doubt any warranty will be awarded. :(

Beware of Sealy "latex"!(Ours is a Sealy Springfree Tradewinds Isle, from Ashley.)

Guest

On my second one! The 1st had ruts in it within the first few months and the second also but not enough for them to exchange!

I agree with original poster...their inspection process is a JOKE! Would not buy again.

Guest

Our Sealy latex mattress was sagging enough after only 4 months to qualify for a replacement. The new one came just a few days ago. I hope it lasts.

I've got one coming in 2 days......... :eek

Sealy posturpedic is junk and so is warranty

2 months after i purchased a sealy posturepedic there was a 1" indention in it. Completely unacceptable for $1300. my previous matress was 10 years old and wasn't this bad. i am 130lbs so weight is not the problem i sent them pictures and went through the whole ordeal only for them to tell me that they won't replace it until it is 1 1/2". I tried to explain that for the first time in my life i am having back problems related to a poor nights sleep. they did nothing. please warn your friends and family not to buy sealy.

i have a wstearn and foste wioth 10 yr warranty at the nionth year they rfused to hjonor any of the warranty. they claim that the box frame edge was not covered.

what BS is that. everyone gets in and out on the edge. they seem to have everything that a warranty covers not covered. i mean not any stains in 10 yrs is unrealistic.

the stain does not affect the poor craftmanship and sagging in the middle.

they just a false warranty and will never buy from them again. stearns and foster quality my ***.

Guest

Sealy sags. Sears or Sealy would do do a think but give us the runaround.

Do not buy sealy.

$1,200 and we had to purchase a new mattress.

an aireloon from Bloomingdales - we're finally sleeping.

Guest

I understand this completely. I'm 5'4" and 125#, hubby is 5'10" and 190# should our bodies make over 2" indentions in only 4 months?? I do not think so!!

Guest

The mattress industry should be investigated. Obama, you're doing everything else for everyone else.....look into the companies screwing millions of people.

Faulty sealy mattress 10 year warranty, they replaced it with a simmons without warranty

i have paid for rent to own furniture. my mattress was a sealy with ten year warranty and i found it to be faulty, i reported this to them.

i moved to new location and they bent my bed frame. they told me they would replace the frame, instead they brought used, rusty frame. they would not replace it with the same mattress with same warranty. instead they replaced it with a simmons with no warranty.

i feel like they have taken advantage of me and i feel like i have been robbed. asked my girlfriend help them moving mattresses.

I PURCHASED TWO SEALY MATTRESS (1 KING, 1 FULL) IN FEB 2010 AND TODAY APRIL 2010 BOTH OF THEM ARE BULDGING ON THE SIDES. I HAD THE INSPECTOR LOOK AT THEM AND HE SAID THAT THIS IS NORMAL.

NOT AFTER 2-3 MONTHS. I'M 5'0 129LB, THERE IS NO WAY I CAN CAUSE THE SPRINGS TO BULDGE ON THE SIDES. SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG WITH THE SEALY PRODUCTS.

I WORK IN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND I KNOW WE AS CONSUMERS HAVE RIGHTS. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE.I WANT MY MONEY BACK OR HAVE THEM REPLACED.

This isn't a complaint about Sealy, what retailer did you buy this from?

Guest

We bought a sealy 2 years ago with a 10 year warranty. The mattress is defective and after 3 months I finally got a letter that I may replace the mattress but that a different model would have to be chosen because the one we got is not longer being made.

I have 60 days with which to do this. I have called the 1-800 number multiple times, today most recently. I was just on hold for 45 minutes and no one picked up. I left my call back number but there was no opportunity to leave an actual message and I've tried to reach them this way many other times and they never return calls.

SO, now I have til March 4 and I can't get a hold of any one. They must be doing this on purpose so that my warranty claim expires and they can say...

"Oh well."" UGH! Not to mention IF I do manage to get a hold of them, there will be no warranty on the new one we get!

Sagging SEALY

We bought a Sealy Element II. We turned it every week as recommended. The springs did not seem to be of the same gauge - I know it was supposed to have 5 "body zones" but there was no continuity across each zone - Four months later it was sagging in the middle, the foam seemed to be squirting off the sides and we were both uncomfortable. My wife and I weigh 110 and 166 lbs respectively and have not performed any spectacular gymnastics on this bed. Fortunately, Sears has agreed to take back the bed and provide us with a new one - but what to buy - there are so many complaints about Simmons and Serta that we don't know where to turn - maybe we'll just get a hammock?

I paid $1,400 for this king size Sealy Posturepedic Reserve firm mattress and it started sagging within 4 months. I purchased it at Lack's Furniture so I ask them to come inspect it.

I got no response from them so after several attempts, I finally went to the store..a year has past at this point..they did come look at the mattress. It sags more than 2" on each side with a huge hump in the middle. They come back with the excuse that the mattress has stains on it. Ok, my husband does sweat, even through the mattress pad at times.

The stains are very minimal and were not there when I first noticed the sagging (in the first few months) the very minimal sweat stains have developed over a 15 month period. Sealy claims the sweat is what has broken the mattress down. In a 4 month period??? Really??

It's not like we poured water on it to caused this break down!!

I have no doubt that this is a defective mattress that I am now stuck with because I have a "hot" husband.

I will NEVER purchase a Sealy again and if you do...you better not get one drop of anything on it or they will not warrant their *** product.

Guest

I have had my Sealy Posturepedic Reserve Cushion Firm mattress for less than Two Weeks.

I Weigh 92 Pounds. There is a Half Inch Sag in the mattress already - excluding the depression from the tufting, which makes it a One and a Quarter Inch sag.

I got this mattress in exchange for a Stearns and Foster Latex mattress... which also sagged immediately.

I have been in PAIN and unable to sleep for a year and a half due to the apparent utter INCOMPETENCE of the mattress industry. There are endless complaints all over the internet citing similar problems with every major manufacturer.

u are all complainers why dont u just go back to ur WHINE parties
